What Is Testosterone? What Do Testosterone Boosters Do? - Nutra Botanics

If you’ve taken a Biology class, you’d have heard of testosterone, but if you’re like me who does not retain information for too long, let me refresh your memory.

What Is Testosterone?

Testosterone is a hormone found in humans, both in men and women (Women’s ovaries also make them but in much smaller amounts; only a tenth to a twentieth of men’s levels). Testosterone is widely regarded as the most important male hormone. It belongs to a class of male hormones called androgens, which are sometimes called steroids or anabolic steroids. Testosterones are primarily produced by testicles found in men, with a small amount made in the adrenal glands. The brain’s hypothalamus and pituitary gland control testosterone production. The hypothalamus dictates the pituitary gland how much testosterone to produce, and the pituitary gland passes the message to the testes. These communications happen through chemicals and hormones in the bloodstream. Testosterone production begins to increase significantly during puberty, usually between the ages 12 and 16 and starts to slow down after age 30 or so.

Why Do Men Need Testosterone?

Testosterone is responsible for the development of male sex organs before birth and the development of secondary sex characteristics at puberty, such as the deepening of the voice, increase in penis and testes size, and growth of facial and body hair.

This hormone also plays a role in sex drive, sperm production, fat distribution, red cell production, and maintenance of muscle strength and mass. A man’s testosterone levels can also affect his mood. With these things in mind, testosterone is linked to men's overall health and well-being.

Low Testosterone Level Symptoms

Low testosterone levels in men can manifest through a variety of symptoms:

  • decreased sex drive
  • Increased breast size
  • Lowered sperm count
  • less energy
  • weight gain
  • feelings of depression
  • moodiness
  • low self-esteem
  • less body hair
  • thinner bones

Why Take Test(osterone) Boosters?

As the name suggests, test boosters amp up your testosterone levels naturally. It increases the ability of your body to produce more testosterone than its current capacity. You have to remember, though, that boosters are not designed to replace natural testosterone - they only help maximize your capacity to produce more of this important hormone.

Benefits of Testosterone Boosters

  1. Increased Strength - Testosterone is the key hormone that is responsible in increasing muscular strength. This increased strength will definitely enable you to perform at a much higher level in the gym, thus increasing muscle mass faster. This, in turn, makes it possible to lift even heavier weights and will place you on your way to your body goal.
  2. Increased Muscle Mass - Test boosters optimize your testosterone levels and make it easier and speeds up the process to rebuild muscles. It will not be an overnight success, but you will notice slow, sustainable, and steady improvements as you go through your journey. With proper diet and training, you should be able to keep the muscles you gained while taking a quality booster.
  3. Improved Sexual Function - Test boosters play a role as a natural remedy for impotence and fertility. It signals your body to produce more of its own testosterone, which may increase sexual arousal and fertility simultaneously. However, boosters are not meant to replace prescription medications for this purpose.
  4. Decreased Fat -  Not only are test boosters effective in building muscle mass, it is also proven helpful in burning body fat as well. You might initially notice a big difference in your weight as you start taking boosters - this is because muscle is more dense and heavier than fat. You will, however, look and feel remarkably better than before.

Testosterone is an important hormone in men. As men age, they will experience a dip in testosterone production - this is a natural cycle of life. Testosterone boosters were invented to help men maintain their bodies and well-being for a long time. It also helps them achieve their dream bodies. Yes, men also have body goals, too!

If you are looking to maintain or build more muscle, improve your strength and cleanly lean up, a little boost never hurt anyone.
