l carnitine and keto

I was going through Facebook the other day and saw this meme where you can find different kinds of pills. Each pill had a “super power”. There was a pill that could make you fly, invisible, a pill that could make you filthy rich, and the last one - a pill that lets you eat anything without ever getting fat. I think we all know which one I’m going to pick! I’d take that non-fattening pill, please!

Oh, if only that were true. Unfortunately, it does not work that way. The only thing easy in the whole weight loss equation is gaining weight. The good thing, though, is that the “power” to lose it lies within us.

Losing weight will never be easy. If it were, then obesity would not be a problem anymore; but the good news is, we have come up with various ways to lose the unwanted flabs that we enjoyed making.

Nutritionists have come up with many ways to get rid of those excess fats: diets, weight loss supplements, workout regimens, medical and aesthetic procedures - you name it. But today, I would like to zoom in on two methods: diet and weight loss supplements - specifically, the ketogenic or keto diet and L-Carnitine; do they really work well together?

What Is the Keto Diet?

This diet has taken the Internet by storm. Everybody swears by it, everybody wants to try it. But what is ketogenic diet?

As I have mentioned in my previous post about targeted keto diet, to understand what it is we must first know that our body operates on two forms of energy - sugar and fat. If a person is on keto diet, it means he is on a strict low-carb (rice, bread, pasta, etc) diet - meaning no sugar. Once a person has completely gotten rid of sugar (carbohydrates) in his system, the body, then, has no choice but rely on fat (meat, eggs, butter, etc) that will be converted in the liver into energy molecules called ketones. Ketones fuel the brain, hence ketogenic diet. Keto dieters aim to be fueled by fat; to reach ketosis - the body basically becomes a fat-burning machine.

Now that we understand how the keto diet works, let’s move on to the next method.

What Is L-Carnitine?

I personally use L-Carnitine to aid in fat loss. But aside from that, I seek its assistance because I notice the difference in my endurance whenever I take it before working out against not having any.

L- Carnitine is an amino acid known as the “ferry” because it moves long-chain fatty acids from the blood into the mitochondria to be burned and used as energy. This is mainly the reason I feel extra strong and last longer when I work out and have taken L-Carnitine. Now, you might think L-Carnitine is optional, but think again because without adequate L-Carnitine, most fats cannot get into the mitochondria and be converted into energy.

Using L-Carnitine with Keto Diet

Being on keto diet means your goal is to reach ketosis. Ketosis is the time when your body is relying on fat for energy turning your body into a fat-burning machine. But when you go on keto diet and use L-Carnitine in addition to it, its potency can be absorbed twice faster speeding up its effect. When you use L-Carnitine when you are on keto diet, it accelerates your metabolic rate while burning fat. Because of this, keto diet combined with L-Carnitine also allows you to access your stored carbohydrates allowing you to reach ketosis faster.

l carnitine and keto is truly a powerful method. If you wish to lose weight faster, in a more effective and healthier way, this lethal combination to fat may be the right one for you.
