Chest Exercises For Men

Chest Exercises For Men

Chests are probably one of the main reasons people hit the gym. Next to the abs, a muscular chest is probably what gym-goers aim for. But is it really important? And how do we build muscular chest muscles?

We all know that the chest is a very noticeable part of our body. It always enters the room first, if you know what I mean. An impressive chest is important to having a balanced physique. It doesn’t matter whether you are a man or a woman, an impressive chest always contributes to a person’s physical appearance.

Let’s get to know our chests.

The first muscle in our chests is the pectoralis major (That’s where the term “pecs” comes from.). This muscle is large and fan-shaped. As you may have already figured out from the word “major”, it makes up the majority of the chest muscle. It runs from the clavicle, ribs, and sternum and goes through the upper portion of your humerus (This is the upper arm bone from your elbow to your shoulder). Because of the pectoralis major, you are able to flex the shoulder joint and move your arm toward and across your chest. When you train this muscle, your shoulders and triceps are also developed.

We also have the pectoralis minor, a thin, triangular muscle under the pectoralis major. This connects the third, fourth, and fifth rib until the shoulder blade (scapula). This muscle can be thought of as the little brother of pectoralis major that helps pull the shoulder forward and down.

But, why is it important to have developed chests?

Posture

When you have strong pecs, you are inspired to show them off, automatically giving you an improved posture. If you are a woman, strong pecs add height to the chest wall that lifts droopy breasts. You have to remember, though, that it is not enough to have strong pecs - you should also have a strong back to avoid slouching forward.

Improves Function

When a person has strong pecs, it strengthens their overall upper body and improves their ability to push, throw, and swing.

Aesthetics

Let’s admit it - a nice pair of chest combined with a nice posture gives the impression that a person is confident and carries himself well.

So, how do we build a muscular chest?

This will sound a little bizarre, but you need to eat more. Your chest will not grow bigger if you don’t eat. To gain weight the right and healthy way, eat every three hours and consume calorie dense foods.

A person who wants to grow a muscular chest should do free weight compound exercises like squats, deadlifts, bench presses, and overhead presses. To be able to these exercises, you also need to train your legs.

In addition to the exercises that are guaranteed to develop your pecs, you should also lift fast. When you do this, it employs more muscle fibers, allows more weight loss, and stimulates chest growth. In doing all these things, you have to make sure that proper technique is used. That’s why doing this in the gym with a fitness expert spotting you is the way to go. They can also give you a workout regimen that would speed up your chest development.

Personally, I’ve always preferred going to the gym to workout. It pushes me to get out of the bed, out of the house, and head to the gym.
